ART: Support Turkey

I had to make a poster for a class based on an issue, so I decided that since Turkey was hit with a devestating earthquake this past Sunday, I would make that the basis of my poster. Check it out:

FITNESS: Calorie Counter Online

Calorie Count is making tracking your diet easier than ever. With a database full of foods, and the ability to add and save custom or unknown foods you can track anything and everything you eat in a day. Personally for me I figured that I would  need about 2,200 calories to stay at my normal weight, however I want to gain weight to build muscle. 500 extra calories per day should be efficient, so I simply type in what I have eaten each day, and then I can roughly track exactly where I'm at. It's also useful because it tracks more than calories. Things like protein, fats, and carbs are all displayed as well. For those on a strict diet you can compare ratios of foods you eat too. Calorie Count also saves your stats and tracks your weight too. Check it out!

FITNESS: Get Jacked Like Jackman(Article)

Hugh Jackman, star of the X-Men movies, Australia and now Real Steel just made the front page of Bodybuilding.com for his work on Real Steel and the training he did to get there.

Hugh Jackman with his trainer Steve Ramsbottom

According to the article Jackman frequently bulks up and cuts down to meet the criteria for his roles. For example for the 2009 flick X-Men Origins Wolverine he would alternate between four weeks of heavy training and then high volume workouts. New studies show that training all three different types of muscle fibers in your body yields maximum gains.

Everyone has three different types of muscle fibers named Type 1, Type 2a, and Type 2b fibers.

Type 1 Fibers (slow twitch) are slow contracting, and hold out for longer periods of time making them more suited for endurance training. They don't fatigue easily, however they don't output as much power.

Type 2a Fibers (fast twitch) are a fast contracting fiber. They can yield explosive power for a short while, then they fatigue. Fast movements for a short time trigger growth in these muscles.

Type 2b Fibers (fastest twitch) is the fastest contracting fiber. These are the last muscles fibers in your body to be used when under stress. They are only activated after fatiguing both Type 1 and Type 2a fibers. Type 2b fibers yield the most explosive strength.

By swapping his training routine between heavy weights and then high volume exercises Jackman is able to achieve maximum muscle gains.

New Beginning

Introduction

Hey, my name is Ben Shukrallah. For those that don't know me I do a lot of different things. With that said unfortunately I have to start with an introduction. This is my new blog. I'll be discussing a lot of things. If you've found this and there's nothing else here then I'm sure a lot of the blog is still broken.I'm fixing it as I move along.

Content

I'm a CG artist, so I'm going to write up on CG art. I'm involved in much more than that though, so I'm just gonna write about whatever else I want. Stay Tuned.
